Principal’s Message

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!

I am honored and excited to be the new principal at Sargeant Elementary School.  Prior to joining Sargeant Elementary School, I was a member of the Colfax Elementary School team.  While at CES, I taught for four years and then transitioned to the positions of Teacher on Special Assignment, Coach for new teachers, and then the Coordinator of Student Services.  During this time, I also obtained my Masters in Advanced Teaching Practices, Reading Specialist Authorization, and Preliminary Administrative Credential.  It is with enthusiasm that I bring my professional experience, passion for students and teaching, and my unquenchable thirst for growth to Sargeant Elementary School.

In addition to being an educator, I am a wife and mother of two young men.  My oldest graduated from Woodcreek High School in 2020 and will be starting his junior year at Boise State this fall.  My youngest is entering his senior year and final high school season of water polo at Granite Bay High School.  He is excited to be part of the Class of 2023.  As a neighbor in our community, I am excited to see you and your children at school and when I am out on a walk or in passing at a local restaurant.  You may even see me walking to school!

We are entering a new year with new optimism.  We all know what we endured over the last two years with the pandemic and its challenges. I am looking forward to putting that behind us for the 2022-2023 school year. Although we do not know all of the things that will come our way this year, we DO KNOW that the Sargeant community can continue to tackle anything together. The Sargeant teachers and staff will continue to provide quality education for our students as well as a safe and positive place for them to develop socially and emotionally. We remain dedicated to our mission of maximizing students’ opportunities for success while becoming globally-minded, lifelong learners.

I spent the summer getting to know many of the teachers and now I am eager to get to know you, your family, and your child(ren) as we build upon our strong foundation and journey forward into this school year with renewed hope and excitement. I am committed to getting to know your students, as well as building strong partnerships with parents and the community.

In an effort to get to know the Sargeant students and become part of this amazing community, I will be reading to students in the classroom.  The books we read together will be tied to the IB Attribute of the Month.  I look forward to these personal connections and engaging conversations with students.  Please check the weekly blog for the book of the month, the corresponding attribute and other information about the exciting things happening on campus.

I hope you are able to attend Back to School Night on August 9th.  Your teachers are eager to meet and connect with you as well.

Go Bulldogs!
